Parish Councillor for Wheathampstead

About Gill

Gill Clark has been part of Wheathampstead  for more than fifty years. For seventeen of those years has served the Village diligently and loyally as a District Councillor and for longer as a Parish Councillor. Her record on attendance is commendable.

She continues to strive to keep the character of the village and retain Wheathampstead as the place where people want to live. She enjoys meeting residents from all parts of the village. While meetings have been difficult during 2020, she has enjoyed greeting people on her daily walks. As a retired person she has more time to talk and listen to the needs of local people. She believes the job of a councillor is to be approachable.

Gill is tireless in her determination to root out the issues that concern local people and to do something about them. She takes a keen interest in helping with problems concerning social housing (Chairing the Housing Liaison Committee has helped her to keep well informed). She advises on planning matters while retaining objectivity to take part in the district planning committee. On the Nomansland committee she has encouraged support for a safe cycle route from the Heartwood Forest towards the village. Gill has worked with fellow Wheathampstead councillors and representatives from Redbourn and Sandridge to keep the Sunday bus services which are vital for a number of folk not able to drive and find taxis unaffordable.
