Cllrs Wood, Clark and Brewster at KWS

County Councillor Annie Brewster and District Councillors Gill Clark & Sandra Wood were joined by parish councillors to be shown around the Katherine Warington school prior to the opening of the main school building in September this year.

Tony Smith, the head teacher, gave the party a preview of the new facilities. From September 2020 all pupils will now be using the main school building. The Sports Hall, that was being used for temporary classrooms whilst the main building was completed, is now being converted back into its designated use. The landscaping of the site continues whilst the outside pitches are being completed.

“The school opened last September when the first-year cohort was housed in the converted sports hall,” said Cllr Brewster, “the site is now fully open and the pupils, many from Wheathampstead, will benefit from these new facilities”. Pupils from Wheathampstead will also benefit  from the free bus transport from Wheathampstead, to the school, that Cllr. Brewster successfully fought for.
