St Albans and District Council has yet again squandered tax payers money, at a time when they are blaming financial constraints on highly unpopular actions like the recent High Street charge on parking. This time they are spending £172K on upgrading one golf hole on their golf course in St Albans. That is a lot of hours parking for hard pressed Harpenden residents.
Matt Cowley, Conservative Leader at the Council“Time and again in St Albans district, we see taxpayers’ money squandered. This latest example should surely not be a priority against a backdrop of cuts to public services under this Lib Dem administration. I know taxpayers will think the council has questions to answer – I intend to ask them on residents’ behalf.”
Apparently the golf hole was positioned the wrong way and there was a risk to residents in the surrounding houses. The golf course has been operational since 1936 and has been re-designed twice since 1981 to try to stop golf balls landing in neighbouring gardens. Have these people never heard of nets?
